West District Long Course Age Group Championships Weekend 2 News Report.

additional resources For swimmers from Cumbernauld Swimming Club it was more of the same last weekend as they spent another 2 days at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow.  Inspired by several swimmers from the Scottish National Team who are trying to polish their competitive edge for the upcoming British Championships in April, our youngsters worked really hard as they attempted to gain times for the National Age Group Championships. 

Alfie Smith enjoyed a superb weekend with Silver medals in both the 11 year old 200 metre Backcrawl and the 50 metre Freestyle.  Agemate Ewan Stevenson earned a place in the 50 metre Backcrawl finals with a personal best swim.  Andrew Brackenridge earned himself a Personal Best time and Top 10 finish in the 200 metre Individual Medley.

In the 12 year age group, Dylan McShane grabbed a Top 10 finish in the 200 metre Backcrawl with a personal best, while Tristan Shepherd also made the finals of the 50 metre Freestyle.

Seth Knox earned places in two finals, finishing in the Top 10 in both the 50 metre Butterfly and the 50 metre Freestyle. Lewis Crosthwaite also made the finals in the 50 metre Breaststroke.

15 year old Cameron Creaney powered his way into the finals in the 50 metre Butterfly and also earned a Top 10 placing in the 200 metre Individual Medley, while Ben Brown finished in the Top 10 of the 200 metre Backcrawl.

Our girls also made a strong showing, with 14 year old Nicole Flynn powering her way to another Personal Best while grabbing a Bronze medal in the 50 metre Butterfly.  Beth Wilson earned places in both the 50 metre Butterfly and Freestyle finals. 13 year old Emma Creaney had a fantastic weekend, earning personal bests in the 200 metre Individual Medley, 200 metre Backcrawl and the 50 metre Butterfly.

Madison Gallacher and Ellie Hunter each had quality swims in the Age 12 category, with Madison reaching the Finals of the 50 metre Breaststroke and Ellie earning a Top 10 placement in the 200 metre Backcrawl.

11 year old Eireann Ferris also rose to the challenge with a Top 10  placement and personal best swim in the 200 metre Backcrawl.
